Devon Carers provides information, assessment and support for carers living in the Devon County Council area or caring for someone living in the Devon County Council area. We have staff based all across Devon.

Devon Carers is run by six organisations working together to improve the quality of services for carers in Devon, whatever your age, whoever you care for. The six organisations are Westbank, Action East Devon, Exeter CVS, Taw and Torridge CVS, Young Devon and Hikmat.

This year's Carers Rights Day will take place on Fri 24 November. More information can be found on the Carers UK website by clicking here. Please come back to visit our website very soon for details of what we will be doing in Devon to raise awareness of carers on Carers Rights Day 2017.

If you live in the Okehampton area, you may be interested in this information event offering opportunities to meet health and care staff and a range of local voluntary groups. Drop in any time between 10am and 4pm on Fri 13 October at the Ockment Community Centre, North Street, Okehampton

*NEWS FROM CARERS WEEK 12-18 June 2017*

Thank you to everyone that attended any one of our Carers Week walks or events and helped to make our Carers Week walking challenge a success. 136 people participated across the county and 346,700 steps were recorded which works out to an impressive 170 miles. Several carers have asked for more walking activities and our Peer Support Team are planning to do more of these over the coming year. If you are interested in finding out how our peer support workers could help put you in touch with other like-minded carers please contact the Devon Carers helpline on 03456 434435.

Don't forget that Active Devon leads 115 walks every week across the county. Search for Active Devon's 'Walking for Health' walks at www.walkingfor

Finally a big thank you to those of you that attended the Carers Week service of celebration at Crediton on 17 June organised and led by the manager of our Exeter team, Tim Collins. The service provided an opportunity for carers to come together to acknowledge and reflect on the support they give.

Carers who attended were our most important guests but we were also very grateful for the support of the following:

  • Rt Rev Sarah Mullally - Bishop of Crediton
  • Revd Helen Drever
  • Cllr Ray Radford - Chairman, Devon County Council
  • Cllr Kate Hannon - Deputy Mayor, Exeter City Council
  • Cllr Sue Croft - Deputy Chair, North Devon District Council
  • Cllr Kathy Cuthbert - Chair, South Hams District Council
  • Cllr Tim Golder - Chair, Teignbridge District Council

We would very much welcome feedback and suggestions for how we can further improve our website. Last year we asked you to suggest changes and, in response to your feedback, we made it easier to find our FAQ and pages specific to particular groups of carers. If you have any feedback you want to give us about our website (or any other aspect of our service) you can put it in our on-line suggestions box here
